The annual Buffalo Races will take place at Chon Buri City Hall on Oct 1. The event, held every year to mark the end of the rainy season, draws thousands of foreign and local tourists to Chon Buri, where they are entertained and enthralled as buffaloes and their jockeys set off on a running track with laughter and cheers. There is no admission charge.

An armada of long-boat racing teams from all over the country are expected to converge on the Nan river to participate in the Lanna Boat Races from Oct 6-7. The opening ceremony involves several Thai-style long-boats, decorated with glitter and garlands and lightweight reproductions of local temple buildings. Also, they will all be adorned with a carved dragon's head on the prow and bright bands of cloth. The competitions comprise three categories according to the number of participants.
